Our Mission.....
"We want to build better kids, not just better athletes." - Billy Downing, Founder and CEO
The idea of building "better kids" instead of just "better athletes" is at
the core of why we exist. The essence of the Elite mentoring philosophy -
the methodology by which we seek to make our students better individuals -
lies in the creation of a nonjudgmental, mutually-respectful atmosphere in
which students are encouraged to define and pursue goals of their own
choice.
At the root of that environment is a firmly held and actively espoused
belief that all students, goals, and interests are equally important. Every
student gets our unconditional support. Essentially, each student is at all
times the most important person in our group, in the sense that Elite exists
exclusively to serve his or her needs. As a result, students acquire the
confidence they need to define and pursue their goals by nourishing their
sense of self-worth and training in an environment where they can be
themselves and explore their interests.
In the process, the responsibilities of self-sufficiency and sensitivity to
others helps build self-esteem and teaches students transferable life
lessons, hopefully helping them become, in the end, not just better
athletes, but better human beings.
